The Rock Nest – Medium is an acrylic nest that is perfect for the growing ant colony. Its larger size (4″ by 4″) provides the ants with approximately 120 cubic centimeters of living space. The thinner tunnels and wider chambers with steps are designed to mimic those of an ant nest underneath of a rock. The tunnels are built big enough to leave even the largest of Camponotus room to get through, and the chambers, as well as the 15 millimeter nest depth, provide plenty of much needed space for a growing colony. Each order includes a free syringe for watering the nest (needed every 5-10 days generally).
To wash nest, disassemble and hand wash in hot water. Let dry, and reassemble.

I moved my colony of Camponotus fragilis into this formicarium a month ago and its great for them! The moisture system works well and I like that there’s multiple sponges so you can choose where to hydrate. The colony has been growing well and there haven’t been any unusual or excessive worker deaths. I will say that it doesn’t come with a cover, but it’s not that big of a deal and can be fixed easily (I just put foil over mine). I definitely recommend this formicarium and will probably buy another in the future.
